We deliver unique, hands-on science experiences for kids through after-school programs, birthday parties, workshops, special events, & camps. Our innovative programs are as entertaining as they are educational!
Mad Science is offering 4 camp themes this summer:
- Eureka! The Inventor's Camp Children overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors, and most importantly, their minds. With a bit of ingenuity, they create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks, and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs.
- Super Science Sampler Explore five of the coolest branches of science! Discover what an owl eats as we dissect owl pellets in Bird Biology; build towering structures and ingenious contraptions via Engineering; go crazy while you construct catapults, pulleys, and more in Machine Mania; stir-up a concoction that becomes sidewalk chalk in Chemistry; then do a double take as you learn how optics work in Lights & Sights!
- Red Hot Robots Join us for a week of fun with amazing robots! In this week of camp, learn about circuits and electricity, gears and mechanisms, and more. Experiment with various robots, including sound sensing robots and avoidance robots, and attempt to manipulate a robotic arm! Use your skills to build your very own working robot to take home with you!
- Astro Innovators This new camp was developed in collaboration with NASA. Campers will engage in an action-packed week as they think and act like NASA innovators. Campers will be challenged to solve real-world engineering problems including designing their own spacesuit, constructing a robotic arm with popsicle sticks, and create a prototype for a Mars Rover made out of pasta!
Camps are half-day 9 am - 12 pm.
Camps are open to children ages 6 - 12.
We have multiple locations in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg.
